LMMFE 9 Project 9 IoT Connectivity Platform
IoT Connectivity Platform
Conceptual Design and Deployment of a Pilot IoT Ecosystem for Building Energy Management

The purpose and objective of the project is to establish a pilot Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem (platform) for lawful, secure, reliable, exchangeable, and transparent IoT data, which will subsequently be managed within data spaces for public services.

The pilot IoT connectivity platform focuses on a key challenge: a diverse array of end IoT devices (sensors, actuators, dedicated equipment) communicating via different transport and data protocols, either wirelessly or over wired connections, must first be communicationally integrated with the overarching IoT framework.

The primary user is the Real Estate Directorate, which manages approximately 350 properties. As part of energy-efficiency renovations, the directorate must implement energy management systems. This requires collecting data from sensors and various energy meters installed on-site, which also serves as the foundation for mandatory energy bookkeeping. The pilot IoT connectivity platform will enable the collection of this data.
